Q. Tiny Tots is a cooperative preschool. What does that mean?
A. In a cooperative preschool, each parent is an owner of the school, and has a vested interest in their child's preschool education. As a parent, you will have the privilege to be actively involved in your child's school experience. You will have the opportunity to serve on a one-on-one basis with your child's teacher for each of your child's "Special Days". Parents help in the classroom about once every 4-6 weeks. You will be able to get to know the students, parents, and teachers. You will be able to participate in class parties and/or special events. Parents are also encouraged to attend and to be actively involved in board meetings.
Q. What class times do you offer at Tiny Tots? What is your tuition cost?
A. Our 3's classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Morning classes are 9:00 to 11:30am, and when offered afternoon classes are held 12:30 to 3:00pm. Tuition for the 3's class is $140.00 a month. Children enrolled in the 3's class must be 3 by August 31st of that school year. All 3 year olds must be potty trained.
Our 4's classes meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Morning classes are 9:00 to 11:30am, and when offered afternoon classes are 12:30 to 3:00pm. Tuition for the 4's class is $175.00 a month. Children enrolled in the 4's class must be 4 by August 31st of that school year.
Our 5's class is offered Monday-Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm. Tuition for the 5's class is $260.00 a month. Children enrolled in the 5's class must turn 5 by December 31st of the school year.
There is a $75.00 non-refundable registration fee due at time of registration, for all classes.
Q. What is the ratio for each classroom?
A. In our 3's the ratio is 1 adult for every 6 children. Your child's teacher and the parent helper will be with a classroom of no more than 12 children.
In our 4's class the ratio is 1 adult for every 7 children. Your child's teacher and the parent helper will be in a classroom with no more than 14 children.
In our 5's class the ratio is 1 adult for every 8 children. Your child's teacher, school-aide, and/or parent helper will be in a classroom with no more than 16 children.
Q. What are the qualifications for the classroom teachers?
A. Each classroom teacher holds a four-year Bachelors degree or two-year Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university . The preschool staff has had additional training in child abuse awareness, communicable diseases, first aid, and CPR.
Q. What is the Tiny Tots approach to curriculum and instructions?
A. The mission of Tiny Tots Preschool is:
* To help children become aware of themselves and of their worth as human beings
* To understand the principles of sharing in play situations and attitudes
* To reinforce the child's life experiences and cultural values
* To secure a bond between home and school by maintaining close relationships with parents, by creating a home-like atmosphere at school
Q. Is there a snack time?
A. Yes! Snack is provided for each child's class time. Special day helper supplies the snack unless there is special snack for that day then Tiny Tots will provide the snack. Each snack is to be brought in already individual packaged for each student.
Q. Will my child have a supply list to purchase before the start of school?
A. Yes, parents will be providing markers and crayons but Tiny Tots supplies the rest.
Q. How is Tiny Tots different from a child care center?
A. Child care centers are typically open year-round from 6am to 6pm. Tiny Tots is only in session from September through May, much like a typical school schedule. Tiny Tots is open from 9am to 1pm. We have small teacher to child ratios and offer a learning environment for children ages 3-6.
Q. Will my child be going on field trips?
A. Each class will have an end-of-the year field trip where a parent accompanies his/her child.
Q. How does Tiny Tots Preschool determine their school calendar?
A. Tiny Tots Preschool determines their school calendar keeping in mind nearby school districts' calendars. Since Tiny Tots Preschool is located in Plain Township, the school follows Plain Local School closings for inclement weather.
